Preventive Care
Routine check-ups, cleanings, and exams help keep every family member’s teeth and gums healthy, preventing dental problems before they start.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) currently recommends a first dental visit at the age of one year. While not all of the baby teeth have erupted at that age, it is important for us to have a quick look and consult with you, the parents, about how things are going. This is done in an effort to prevent cavities from occurring, but also to start the good habit of professional oral care.
We see many children at Sleep For Dentistry. For them, we offer virtually the same range of treatments as for our adult patients. In addition, we will gauge the development of your child’s mouth. Important factors, such as tooth size and spacing, oral hygiene practices at home, and potential soft tissue issues are all evaluated at each visit. If work is needed, we will treat your child awake or asleep. We will provide the appropriate treatment options, so that you, the parents, have the final say in the treatment of your child.
At the end of each visit, our younger patients always look forward to a search through our ever-changing toy box for their take-home present!
